Bernard Dunne Soccer Match and Gala Dinner

On Saturday 8th May, former World Champion Boxer Bernard Dunne swapped his gloves for soccer boots and organised a Soccer Match at Tallaght Stadium followed by a Gala Dinner at Citywest Hotel.

Bernard is a long time supporter of the IMNDA and we were delighted to be chosen alongside CASA as a recipient of the funds raised.

The soccer match brought a big crowd who witnessed a very close game between Team Bernard and Team Jimmy (Magee) with Bernard unsurprisingly winning, given that he had all the ex pros on his team such as Ian Rush, Ronnie Whelan and Packie Bonner! Other well known faces who played on the day included Shane Byrne, Ken Doherty, Jason Sherlock and Brian Ormond.

After the match; a Gala Dinner took place at City West where over 500 guests bought tickets to be entertained by Riverdance, the Keith McDonald Show Band, Mickey Harte, Comedian June Rogers and singer Elaine Page. Brian Ormond kindly Mc’d the evening. The food was delicious, the auction and raffle raised loads of cash and fun was had by all. Thank you to everybody who worked tirelessly to make this day and night possible especially Bernard Dunne and event organisers Alan & Mark.

The IMNDA gratefully received over €26,000 in total from this event.
