On Saturday 3rd December 2011, the IMNDA hosted their 3rd White Collar Boxing event. This time the fight night was held at the exclusive Wright Venue in Swords and what a success it was! 34 participants, male and female of all ages and fitness levels, signed up to take part in 6 weeks of intensive training at the High Performance Gym of the National Boxing Stadium, Dublin. The commitment from every single boxer was truly admirable over the weeks and as well as the tough training, ticket sales and fundraising was also part of the deal.
When fight night finally arrived everybody had been matched up for their big moment in the ring... over 600 spectators poured into the venue including very special guests Jimmy Magee and Kenny Egan. There were nerves a-plenty as the boxers were called to take part in the parade before the 1st fight got underway. The crowd were treated to 17 bouts with no shortage of entertainment!
Sincere thanks to our 34 boxers, Cathal O'Grady and his White Collar Boxing team, each company who offered some sponsorship, our raffle prize givers, our wonderful volunteers (particulary photographers Rita-Marie Lawlor and Emer Connolly), everybody who bought a ticket and contributed, Kenny and Jimmy and to Boylesports who ran bets on each fight and donated the proceeds.
