It’s MND Global Awareness Week and Jimmy Magee & Mary McEvoy invite you to “Drink Tea for MND”!!!

Press Release: 21st May 2011

Jimmy Magee RTE Sports Correspondent and Actress Mary McEvoy together with the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association are encouraging the people of Ireland to hold ‘tea events’ to mark this year’s MND Global Awareness Day which takes place on 21st June raising funds & awareness for people with Motor Neurone Disease.

This campaign invites people across the country to hold a tea day / afternoon tea / coffee morning or a cake sale with friends, family, in your local pub or even at work with your colleagues during Global Awareness week. It couldn’t be simpler and tea packs are available from the IMNDA office - freefone 1800 403 403 / email or visit www.imnda.ie

Jimmy (IMNDA Patron), whose son Paul, sadly passed away from Motor Neurone Disease in 2008 and Mary, who lost a close family member last year, will be Drinking Tea for MND and urge you to do the same!

MND is a progressive neurological condition that leaves people unable to do the everyday things that the rest of us take for granted. Walking, talking and swallowing may become virtually impossible. MND strikes people of all ages and there is no cure. The IMNDA provides specialised services for people affected by this debilitating disease such as equipment on loan, financial assistance towards home help, advice and home visits by MND Nurse Specialists.

In order to provide these vital services the IMNDA depends heavily on the generosity of the public and friends of the association who generate over 75% of its income.
