This annual one-day MND conference is organised by St Christopher's Hospice and the MND Care and Research Centre at King's College Hospital. A varied Programme plans to evaluate current theory with regard to MND care management and reflect on the future direction of research. The conference takes place in Weston Education Centre, King's College Hospital, London on 23rd April 2009. The cost is £100.
The aim of this year's MND conference is to share experience of effective practice - to look critically at 'what works' in the care of people with this complex disease. Presentations will include a critical overview of the latest research including new information with regard to phenotypes and how this may shape individual patient management. Further, the conference will discuss the management of cognitive and resulting behaviour change; including how to support carers and consider complex symptom control, and spirituality with a focus on resilience.
Following feedback from last year's event a new session has been introduced giving the opportunity for delegates to raise difficult clinical issues and discuss ethical dilemmas in a structured question and answer session with a panel of expert practitioners from different professional backgrounds.
