Kilkenny Charity Walk being organised in Memory of Local Man

Press Release

11th January 2012

Kilkenny Charity Walk being organised in Memory of Local Man

Walk 8K for the IMNDA!

On Saturday 3rd March, Kathy Buckley is organising an 8K Charity Walk in Kilkenny in aid of the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA). The walk will be in memory of Kathy’s brother, Paddy Roche, who sadly passed away from Motor Neurone Disease (MND) last summer.

The 3rd March 2012 would have been Paddy’s 44th birthday and Kathy feels this would be a lovely way to pay tribute and remember her dearly beloved and much missed brother.

Paddy like many others before him, has been taken from his family and friends very cruelly and far too soon by MND. By organizing this charity walk we hope to help those who are now living and suffering with MND. We hope to raise both awareness and much needed and valuable funds for IMNDA, to help ease the pain of those living with MND and their families”.

The walk will leave from the Rugby Club on the Waterford Road in Kilkenny at 10am, meeting at 9.30am. The route will go from the Rugby Club to the Harvester Bar and back, a distance of approximately 8K. Kathy is encouraging everyone from the local area, young or old, to come along and get involved.

Sponsorship cards are available or donations can be made online at www.mycharity.ie at Memories forever. Donations great or small are all appreciated, for more information please contact Kathy on 086-3099543 or email

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is an incurable neurological condition leaving people unable to do the everyday things the rest of us take for granted, like walking, talking and swallowing which may become virtually impossible. One person dies every five days from MND.

The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is dedicated to providing care for people with Motor Neurone Disease, their carers and families as well as supporting research into the causes and treatments of MND.

The IMNDA is a small organisation that relyies heavily on fundraising in order to continue providing vital services to the MND community; such as assistance towards home help, provision of specialised equipment on loan and home visiting by an MND Nurse Specialist.
