St Pats FC pledge their support to the IMNDA! Thursday, 17th May 2012
Meeting the Healthcare Needs of People with Disabilities Tuesday, 3rd April 2012
Neurological Alliance of Ireland Lobby Day Thursday, 1st March 2012Congratulations to our sportsman for the month of April, Conor O Boyle, son of Sheila O Boyle, from Letterkenny, Donegal. Sheila was diagnosed with MND and registered with the association in July 2008.
Conor is a keen cyclist and has taken part in many sponsored cycles, starting from London, where he now lives. This year Conor decided to make an extra special cycle starting in London and ending in Letterkenny with the IMNDA in mind.
He explained, "Over the past number of years we have taken part in many sponsored cycles but it is especially nice to be able to do something for an Irish charity which is of special personal interest."
Accompanied by his wife and two friends, the foursome took off from central London on 31 March, heading to Oxford, Stratford Upon Avon, Kidderminster, Bala, Snowdonia, Holyhead. They took the ferry to Dublin north wall, arriving on Easter Sunday 4 April and then made their way to Kells, onto Enniskillen, Donegal Town and through the gap to end in Letterkenny.

Conor and his companions reach Dublin on Easter Sunday 4 April 2010
This a particularly significant year for Conor to embark on his cycle, as 2010 marks the 25th year of the provision of care and research by the IMNDA. The Association has not witnessed a sponsored cycle of this distance before and is extremely grateful to Sheila, Conor and other members of their family for highlighting the disease and the specialised services required to enable families to manage their symptoms and take part in vital research.
Special mention goes to Conors companions on the cycle, his friends Liam Byrne and Rowland Wood and to Julisa, Conors wife who accompanied him throughout the cycle. We would like to name Julisa our extreme sportswoman of the month!
To support the enormous undertaking by Conor and to help further the work of the Association, donations can be made through Conor or Julisa's charity web pages on the www.mycharity.ie website.
