The Master Builders and Contractors Association (MBCA), which is the principal body representing general building contractors in Ireland and an association of the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) makes donation €15,000 to charity in memory of Galway Consultant Rory O'ConnorA very generous donation of €15,000 was received from Mr. Michael O'Sullivan, the Immediate Past President of MBCA, in memory of Rory O'Connor. This donation was the surplus raised at the MBCA annual dinner last year and is donated to the president's nominated charity. The IMNDA would like to take the opportunity to thank the MBCA for their very generous donation. All funds received will go towards helping people with Motor Neurone Disease, by providing specialised equipment and assistance towards home help.
Rory O'Connor was a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in University College Hospital Galway from 2000 until his death in December 2009 from Motor Neurone Disease.
He held the position of chairman of the Institute of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and was National Speciality Director. He made a phenomenal contribution to obstetrics & gynaecology at both clinical and national strategic levels.
Rory was and will always remain one of life's true gentlemen; he is survived by his wife Siobhan and two children, Anna & David.
