Thursday, 19th April 2012 Greater Dublin Independent Living (GDIL) is an organisation that works with people with physical and sensory disabilities to promote their rights, options, independence and empowerment. It is part of the Centres of Independent Living movement, a global network with an ethos of inclusion and valuing the experience of people with disabilities as experts in their own lives. We are a peer led organisation for people with disabilities in Dublin City & County. The goal of GDIL is to provide information, advocacy and peer support to those wishing to experience Independent living.

GDIL is holding a conference on “Meeting the healthcare needs of people with disabilities” to look at some of the issues people with physical and sensory disabilities face in dealing with healthcare services on:

Location: The Croke Park Conference Centre, Jones Road, Dublin 3.

Through 2011 we have held a number of focus group sessions and information evenings for members and looked at areas such as women’s health, men’s health, mental health and issues around sexuality and cancer screening. This conference has been formed and guided by the feedback we have gauged from these sessions.

This is strictly a registered event and applications must be made to GDIL at 01- 8737039 or to . The conference will be of interest to people with physical and sensory disabilities that live in the greater Dublin area and to those working in the area of provision of health care services to people with physical and sensory disabilities or supporting people to do so.
