MND Global Awareness 2010
21st June, the global day of recognition of MND, is a solstice – a turning point - and each year the MND community undertakes a range of activities to express their hope that this day will be another turning point in the search for cause, treatment and cure of this disease that affects people in every country of the globe.
In Ireland we are asking our supporters to Drink Tea for MND:-
• On Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th, you can Drink Tea for MND in Cooley Parochial Hall, Co. Louth from 10am-1pm
• On Sunday 20th – Peter Skelly has organised a Motorbike Run from Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan to Sligo and back. If you are a tea drinking motorbike enthusiast then this is for you! Ride to Skelly’s shop on Sunday before 12pm and pay €20 to enter the Run, you can drink tea on arrival at Bree’s Bar, Strandhill, Sligo and again when you return to Ballyjamesduff….
• On MND Global Day itself – Monday 21st - a tea morning is taking place at the Basilica Italian Restaurant, Oranmore, Co. Galway from 11am – 1pm
• Also on Monday, you can head to the Huguenot Art Gallery, Portarlington, Co. Laois to support an IMNDA tea day from 10am-6pm
• It is not too late to organise your own Tea event for next week, order your pack from the office now!
• Why not contact your local radio station or newspaper next week to give your own experience of MND in order to raise awareness
• Finally, wherever you are in the world you can show your support for MND Global Day online. If you have a Facebook page change your profile picture to the IMNDA logo for Monday 21st June (please reply to this email if you’d like us to email this to you in a jpeg format).
The fight against MND is a global fight. MND affects people in every country in the world, and takes no notice of race, colour, faith or economic status. It is indiscriminate, and every diagnosis affects a much larger circle of family, friends, relatives, workmates and others.
