Support the IMNDA through Recycling Appeal

Through our partnership with the recycling experts at the Recycling Appeal, the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association could earn around €5 for every used mobile phone or ipod donated on our behalf. We can also earn money for your used inkjet and laserjet cartridges. Considering more than 1.1 billion inkjet cartridges are used around the world, our fundraising potential is tremendous!

Why Recycle?
As well as being good for the environment, recycling can help raise valuable funds for the IMNDA. Please encourage your colleagues, friends and family to donate their used handsets, ipods, inkjets, toners or CDs and DVDs.

  • The average mobile phone user will replace their handset once every 18 months.
  • It is estimated that less than 20% of all unused mobile phones in the UK are currently recycled
  • Estimates state that close to 90 million phones are hiding in drawers and cupboards across the UK (11250 tonnes) - these weigh almost six times as much as the London Eye!
  • More than 30 million inkjet cartridges are dumped each year in the UK (1800 tonnes) - the same weight as 18 Blue Whales
  • The plastic used in a typical cartridge is made of engineering grade polymers and is expected to take up to 1000 years to decompose

What can you recycle?

  • Original inkjet and laserjet cartridges – HP, Canon, Dell and Lexmark & Samsung
  • Mobile phones
  • PDA’s
  • Ipods
  • Original CDs and DVDs

Please note: Epson cartridges, toner bottles and compatible cartridges are not suitable for recycling.
