Team Freewheelers

7 cycling enthusiasts from Galway, Mayo and Roscommon took on a gruelling 109km cycle in July and cycled the toughest stage of the Tour de France; the L’Etape du Tour – Alpe d’Huez.


“Team FreeWheelers” were made up of Adrian, Padraig, Gary, Seamus, Jarlath, Des and David who started alongside 10,000 other cyclists at 5am on 11th July and set off from Modane Valfrjus; after 10km the group commenced the double climb of the Tlgraphe and Galibier with a 7% for 33 km. After the Galibier and Lautaret long descent, they arrived in Le Bourg d'Oisans and to start the mythic Alpe d'Huez climb and its 21 historic turns!!
