Wicklow Marilyn Munro Walking Event
A Marilyn is a mountain or hill with a
relative height of at least 150 metres (492 ft.), regardless of absolute height
or other merit. A Munro is a mountain with a height over
914.4m (3,000 ft). There are 27
Marilyns and one Munro (Lugnaquilla) within or on the Wicklow county border.
The Wicklow Marilyn Munro event saw groups of two/three hill walkers reach the summits of each of the Wicklow peaks on Sunday 4th December to raise much needed funds and awareness for the IMNDA.
There were 80 hikers out on the day and all peaks were covered. It
was not possible to get to the top of Tinoranhill because of access
difficulties or Ballymoyle hill where the top was covered in new forest so it was
only possible to get 10m height wise/160m distance from the top. As it
currently stands a fantastic €6,178 has been raised.
