In honour of Maura McHugh

14 Mar 2024
Padraig Monaghan recently retired from Optum United Health Group and was overwhelmed by their gesture of $10,000 to the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association as it is a charity very close to his heart.

Padraig's sister Maura sadly passed away from MND in December 2020. She raised an incredible sum of €100,000 plus and was awarded a silver medal for this achievement.

"Maura was so courageous and selfless during her illness and wanted the funds to go into research to eventually find a cure so that other families wouldn’t have to suffer like ours did with this horrible disease.

Family was so important to Maura and I know she would have been incredibly proud of this very generous donation. A special word of thanks to Optum UHG and IMNDA for help in fighting this cause." Padraig Monaghan.

On behalf of the IMNDA we would like to thank Optum United Health Group for their very kind donation of $10,000 from Padraig Monaghan's retirement and also to acknowlege the fundraising efforts of the late Maura McHugh RIP.
