13 Oct 2026

The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association was delighted to be involved in the Neuroimaging in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (NISALS) meeting, which is an annual gathering of renowned neuroscientists, neurologists, radiologists from around the globe, focusing on clinically-relevant, patient-centred MND research. This took place in the Trinity Innovation Hub Dublin on the 9th & 10th October, hosted by The Computational Neuroimaging Group in Trinity College Dublin and sponsored by the IMNDA.

The focus was on clinical and academic aspects of imaging-based biomarkers in Motor Neuron Disease (MND). A series of lectures were delivered by renowned national and international experts focusing on MRI techniques, statistical frameworks and clinical aspects of ALS/MND. The workshop was tailored to many healthcare professionals such: nurses, neurologists, radiographers, researchers and neuroscientists.

We were delighted to be in involved, and we were represented by our MND Nurse, Fidelma Rutledge, who delivered a presentation on patient-centred care delivery, individualised support strategies, remote monitoring, and home visits. Our CEO, Kevin Burn also presented at the event and he spoke about service development, a two-decade perspective on care delivery.
