The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association is a charity that is very close to my heart, having lost my lovely Dad, Richard, to Motor Neurone Disease in November 2023. There are more than 470 people affected by this cruel and debilitating disease all across Ireland. The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is the only organisation of its kind in the country providing specialised services to families affected by this terminal condition.
The cause of MND is unknown and sadly there is no cure. It is a progressive and debilitating neurological condition that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. MND can strike people of all ages.
By donating to my fundraising page – not only are you helping to fund nursing services, extra home care hours, communication tools and critical equipment that's needed to keep people at home - you are also sending a powerful message of hope and support to every family affected by MND.
In order to provide the vital services that patients need, the IMNDA depends heavily on the generosity of the public and supporters of the association who generate over 85% of their income.
