Cognitive & Behavioral Changes in MND

Cognitive and Behavioural Changes in MND: Guidelines for Health Care Professionals

Professor Orla Hardiman and her team in The Academic Unit of Neurology, Trinity College, along with their colleagues in Research Motor Neurone have produced a booklet entitled Best Practice Guidelines for Health Care Professionals. This looks at the prevalence and detection of cognitive & behavioural changes in MND along with implications for diagnosis and management. The project was funded by a Health Research Board Knowledge Exchange and Dissemination Award.

The booklet provides guidelines that aim to enhance clinical care in the context of complex physical, cognitive, behavioural and social changes that are associated with MND. The booklet also looks at cognitive & behavioural changes from the perspective of the caregiver and includes some recommendations for providing support to caregivers.
