IMNDA Grants

The IMNDA has a range of grants available to help support the MND community. To avail of these grants, you must be registerd with the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) and you must also be living in the Republic of Ireland.

Home Care

The IMNDA provides financial assistance towards home care for people with MND. The association will top up homecare hours by €200. This payment is designed to act as a top up to HSE funded home care hours. This service must be signed off on by one of our IMNDA Nurses and the grant must be used through a home care agency.

To arrange home care assistance for a person with MND, please contact your IMNDA Nurse. We do not recommend any specific care agencies but please find details HERE of agencies that have been used by others living with MND. To find a home care agency, you can also ask your local public health nurse or health centre.

Counselling

IMNDA funds counselling sessions for the person with MND and for an immediate family member or caregiver. The maximum amount for this grant is up to €500 only.

IMNDA is not affiliated with any one psychotherapist, counsellor or counselling service. Please speak to your GP for recommendations or you can source a counsellor independently. For more on this, please speak with your IMNDA Nurse.

Charlie Bird Development Fund: Recharge Grant

As a result of the Charlie Bird Development Fund, and the incredible fundraising from Climb with Charlie, we will provide a grant of max €600 per family, per year to have a hotel break in Ireland.

IMNDA will provide complimentary hotel break experiences to those living with MND and their families, assisting them to make cherished memories together as well as providing relief breaks for family caregivers of those with MND, giving them the opportunity to take time out from what can often be a stressful journey. IMNDA are facilitating this through their partnerships with the iNUA Collection Group,  So Hotels Group and Gallen Hospitality (Donegal) Group.

IMNDA will provide a grant for a hotel stay away from home for those living with MND and/or their families, to take a well-deserved break in a comfortable and convenient location, through the Charlie Bird Development Fund.
