MND Nurses
Continuity of care is crucial when it comes to managing a complex condition such as Motor Neurone Disease.
That’s why our MND nurses are so important. They act as a link between our clients and families and community healthcare professionals, consultant neurologists and the services team in IMNDA.
There is no one size fits all when it comes to MND so having our nurses out in the community, helping to co-ordinate care for our clients is paramount.
Fidelma, Louise, Maire, Kathryn, Aine, Charlene and Elizabeth attend MND hospital clinics, liaise with healthcare professionals such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists and ensure palliative care supports are put in place when needed. They help our clients and carers navigate their way through what is a very complex disease.
The Association receives no state or HSE funding towards this invaluable service. It is funded entirely by the generosity of people like you all around the country.
In 2024, our nursing service cost €659,042 to run. These funds come entirely from donations and fundraising enabling us to keep our nurses in the community providing vital support.
Please take part in Walk While You Can this year and help maintain this crucial service.
